We've been keeping something very exciting quiet for a while. IONATE has been selected as a 2026 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

This officially makes us one of the world’s top 100 most promising start-ups, building technologies with the potential to reshape industries and tackle the most consequential global challenges.

Indeed, we're joining a community with alumni like Google, Dropbox, PayPal, Spotify, Airbnb and Palantir.

Electricity in its Defining Decade

The 2026 cohort spreads across frontier tech landscape, from AI infrastructure and robotics to quantum systems, biotechnology and next-generation materials – and the fundamental enabler: energy. Modernisation of our power systems is now a geopolitical imperative.

Electricity demand is skyrocketing. The world is on course to consume roughly 37,800 terawatt-hours of electricity by 2035: a 40% rise on today's figures. The character of that growth matters as much as its scale. Demand is emerging faster, in more concentrated locations, with exceeded expectations for reliability. AI, data centres, electrification, renewables, industrial growth and resilience are all placing pressure on the same system.

“Innovation is the engine of power system transformation”

In their recent report, Intelligent Infrastructure: A Primer, the WEF argues that the value of infrastructure is no longermeasured by how well physical assets are constructed or connected, but bywhether those assets can absorb information, respond to changing conditions andoperate with a degree of autonomy. It is "a determinant of nationalcompetitiveness". Those that weave intelligence into the systemspowering their economies are not simply upgrading but staking out a differentposition in the global order.

IONATE: Redefining the grid infrastructure intelligence frontier

At IONATE, we’ve been building the hardware-software backbone for smart power systems. Our Hybrid Intelligent Transformers lay thesmart foundations for a future-proof system. Coupled with AI-enabled Aurora software,we unlock the real-time controllable, highly efficient energy infrastructureour future needs.

Through the Forum’s global platform, we look forward to engaging with leaders across industry, government and civil society. The future of power is being shaped now, and we are proud to be building it.

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and otherleaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.(www.weforum.org).

Launched in 2000, the Technology Pioneers is a leading community for early-stage companies from around the world that are shaping the future through breakthrough technologies and innovations. These companies are selected for their potential to have a significant impact on business and society and are invited to engage with public and private sector leaders through the World Economic Forum’s global platform. The Technology Pioneers community is part of the Innovator Communities at the World Economic Forum, which convene the world's leading global start-ups across different growth stages from early-stage Technology Pioneers to growth-stage Global Innovators and unicorn companies valued at more than $1 billion.
