Salary: £34,000 - £38,000
Full-time, hybrid with London office base - 3 days per week

IONATE is a deep tech scale-up building the hardware and software backbone for smart grids. Our mission is to transform power systems – from grids and microgrids to renewables and data centers – unlocking the massive potential in this under-innovated sector that touches every aspect of our modern lives.

We are now looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. From delivering the day-to-day, to designing and implementing processes that drive our team forward, this role is for you if you thrive on the fast pace and variety that a growing scale-up has to offer.

What you will do:
-
Take ownership of the AP process from end-to-end; you'll be the go-to person for all AP-related queries - e.g. management of expenses, company credit cards, payments, purchase orders and reconciliation
-
Monitor and respond to internal and external queries via the shared Accounts inbox
-
Contribute to our financial reporting - producing key reports and documentation, including HMRC customs reporting and import tax obligations
-
Assess the effectiveness of our existing processes - spot the bottlenecks and optimise for simplicity
-
Assist our Financial Controller with broader finance-related tasks and projects
What you will need:
-
Expertise in AP / Purchase Ledger processes, with a particular focus on invoices, expenses, and payments (using Purchase Orders)
-
Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word, as well as Accounting/expense management platforms
-
Experience developing and implementing Accounts Payable processes, as well as identifying opportunities to improve existing ones
-
A keen eye for detail and accuracy
-
Solid organisational skills - you've juggled multiple competing priorities with ease and deliver results
-
Good communication skills - both written and verbal

It would be useful to have:
-
Experience in dealing with Import duties/import documentation
-
Familiarity with Xero and ExpenseIn
Your benefits:
-
Employee Option Plan: You get equity in IONATE, so as we succeed so do you.
-
Private Medical & Dental Insurance: From day one, we provide you with full, comprehensive private medical and dental cover through Bupa. You also have the option to add any dependents to your cover. Please ask us for more details.
-
Company pension: a competitive, flexible, and sustainable pension product to help you plan for your future.
-
Career Development: It’s important to us that you have the opportunity for ongoing professional development and career growth.
-
Flexible working schedules: You will have the flexibility for work-from-home arrangements. Talk to us at the application stage about this.
-
Cycle to Work Scheme: Low carbon travel is important for everyone, so we have in place a cycle scheme to help you purchase a bicycle.
-
Slow travel: We believe in a low carbon future, so if you wish to travel by a lower carbon method – but it takes much longer than flying - we will give you an extra 2 slow travel days per year.
