Purchase Ledger Clerk

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 Pro-rata

Part-time (2-days), hybrid with London office base

​

IONATE is a deep technology start-up, building the technology backbone for smart electricity grids. Our London team are looking for a part-time Purchase Ledger Clerk/Accounts Payable Assistant to support our finance department.

Requiring solid purchase ledger experience, this position will work directly alongside our financial controller for our London and Austrian team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the PL function.

The role will primarily focus on the delivery of the day to day AP function, including helping design and implement new processes as our business expands. You, working within the finance function will be there to deliver essential suppor

​

What you will do:

  • Be the key business contact for all AP related queries

  • Administration and processing (including coding and approval) of purchase invoices using ExpenseIn and Xero (multi-currency)

  • Administration and processing of company credit cards and reimbursable expenses

  • Ensuring approval processes are adhered to and chasing up with approvers where necessary

  • Set up weekly payment runs

  • Control of the finance email mailbox

  • Reconcile payments with supplier accounts

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Help the project manager with the preparation of Purchase Orders

  • Management of the PO process. Liaising with contacts for PO approval (via ExpenseIn) and ensuring PO’s are raised for committed spend and matched to invoices

  • Management of HMRC customs reporting requirements and payments in relation to import taxes on supplies

  • Provide necessary reports and documentation to contribute to financial reporting

  • Work closely with the FC to assist with other ad-hoc finance related tasks

 

What you will need:

  • Purchase ledger role experience with a focus on invoices, expenses and payments, (using Purchase Orders)

  • Prior knowledge of strong purchase ledger processes

  • Experience in dealing with Import duties/import documentation

  • A self-disciplined, strong team player

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerate accuracy

  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Proficient in Excel/Word

It would be useful to have:

  • Experience with Xero

  • Experience with ExpenseIn (preferred)
